Quick start guide

Okay first off, If you're a beginner DJ who doesn't care much about crisp and clear sound and Saucy EQ. That's right I just said saucy. Then this is the mixer for you. For me however, a person who cares about sound quality, this is not the mixer for me. It's built well and has a professional feel, but not sound. I currently use this mixer with the Numark V7's which are great pieces of hardware. back to the M6 usb, It is decent for learning to scratch do to the cut setting on the crossfader, however twiddling, and crab scratching is impossible because the fader cut point is too far away the fader is too stiff. But that can be replaced with an innofader pro. The biggest flaw with the mixer is its unnatural sound quality and the slope of the line faders and EQ knobs. Most club standard DJ mixers will have a even gradual fade on the faders and knobs, however this mixer's not like this at all. When adjusting the bass knob, the bass will not start to really reduce untill it is almost all the way turned toward zero. This mixer was designed to work like this. Which for the common DJ is an unwanted thing. Looking to maybe buy numark's x5 mixer because it has a remarkable fader for scratching and slope adjustable line faders and cross fader. If you're into Numark mixer's, I recommend the Numark X5. The X7 would be nice but Numark decided not to release it for some illegitimate reason.

5 Modern Truths About Raising Early-Stage Capital

With the growing amount of available information and data and the increasing prominence of angel investor and private equity networks, early-stage investors are much more experienced and sophisticated than at any time in the past.
Startup entrepreneurs, therefore, also need to be at the top of their game when it comes to raising early-stage capital.
Nobody knows this better than Ed Quattlebaum, a biotechnology entrepreneur and consultant who has raised millions of dollars in startup capital for his and his clients’ businesses. His company, Polaris-Crux Group, is a strategic advisement firm based in the Washington, DC, area that focuses exclusively on helping emerging-technology companies and investors navigate the complexities of early-stage innovation, the raising of capital and commercial scaling.

Recently, Quattlebaum spoke at the Clemson Technology Village Conference, an annual meeting of the Clemson University-backed business and technology incubators around South Carolina. In speaking to his extensive experience in raising capital for young and promising technology companies, Quattlebaum set a few sobering expectations for startup entrepreneurs who all too often are under the mistaken impression that they are ready for early-stage funding.
Here are five of those observations about the current state of the early-stage investment environment:

9 Common Mistakes Made by New Entrepreneurs

A big part of starting a business is having a plan then having the discipline to act on it. Being part of a startup isn’t always glamorous, and often requires simply submitting yourself to the process.

In his book The Lean Startup, Eric Ries makes this point better: “I have learned from both my own successes and failures and those of many others that it’s the boring stuff that matters the most. Startup success is not a consequence of good genes or being in the right place at the right time. Startup success can be engineered by following the right process, which means it can be learned, which means it can be taught.”

Taking steps to avoid mistakes frequently made by new entrepreneurs is a part of this process. Here are nine mistakes you should avoid when starting a new business:

The 6 Most Important Roles of a Startup CEO

Founding and growing an industry-transforming company is probably one of the hardest things anyone could ever do, and the hardest part about it is that nobody has done your job ever before!

There are no fixed rules in startups. Your mentors always seem to give you conflicting advice, and the books and blogs are so full of useful tidbits that it’s hard to know which things to prioritize. Sometimes you just find yourself staring into space wondering if you are working on the right things.
I’ve certainly felt this at times myself. To help me stay centered, I’ve condensed my main responsibilities into six bullet points that remind me of my principle obligations at Brainscape. I keep these six points on a post-it note in my office, so whenever I question whether I am neglecting any key responsibility, I just look at my list and make sure I feel that everything is in balance.
